Combine salt and flour in a bowl. Add butter. Make sure to use your fingertips while rubbing the butter into the flour. You will then have a result that looks like breadcrumbs.
Combine sugar, yeast, and milk in a jug. Set aside the mixture until frothy; approximately 5 minutes. Add to the flour mixture then stir. Knead the mixture for 10 minutes or more until it’s elastic and smooth.
Get a large bowl then brush with oil. Place the dough in the bowl; use a damp tea towel to cover it. Set aside in a draught-free and warm place until the dough doubles in its size.
Preheat the oven up to 200 degrees Celcius. Get the dough and punch its center. Knead for 3 minutes until its smooth. Divide into how many proportions you like. If you like big rolls, you can have 4, if you like small rolls, divide into 8. Place on the oven tray which is lightly floured. Set aside and wait until it rises.
Dust the rolls with extra flour and brush with little water. Bake for 4-5 minutes. The heat then should be reduced to 180 degrees Celsius and bake the rolls for another 20 minutes. Wait until the rolls turn golden brown.
Serve while still warm together with the crab cakes.
